The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) says that manual instructions regarding implementation of the Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice (MOON) now are available on the CMS website.
The instructions provide more specific detail on notice delivery. CMS released the MOON/CMS-10611, along with its form instructions, in December. Hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) must begin using the MOON no later than March 8.
