Providers encouraged to complete nursing home admissions survey

The South Dakota Department of Health, Department of Social Services and Department of Human Services are seeking information that impacts a nursing facility’s decision to admit new residents. The information gathered from providers will be included in the annual review process outlined in SDCL 34-12-35.7 – Annual consideration of need for additional nursing facility beds or new nursing facilities.

Nursing home administrators were sent a request to complete a 20-question survey, which is due by July 20. The survey includes questions related to bed category, capacity, payor source, admission restrictions, staffing shortages, memory care and barriers to accepting referrals.
