The House Appropriations Committee has killed a bill establishing a program to assist nursing and assisted living facilities in recruiting certain health care personnel.

Committee members voted 7-1 Monday to defer House Bill 1004 to the 41st legislative day.

The bill would have helped facilities recruit registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse aides and medication aides. It came out of the summer Interim Committee on Regulation of Nursing and Assisted Living Beds.
