Event Details

The development and advancement of antiretroviral therapy (ART) has transformed HIV/AIDs into a chronic disease, which results in an overall increase in prevalence of HIV/AIDS cases and rise in the number of people living with symptomatic HIV disease. Chronic illnesses have high symptom burdens and increase care needs. The course of illness is characterized by periodic, acute exacerbations that will require an increase of care, and aggressive symptom management during acute and future exacerbation is essential. Prognostication is challenging because these patients are at risk for sudden death but may stabilize for prolonged periods.
