Overview:
Do you ask your team members for help in solving problems?  Do you consider the viewpoints of various interested parties?  When problems arise, do you make a list of possible causes, prioritizing them in the order of probability that they actually contribute to the problem?  Do you determine what information needs to be collected to resolve the problem?

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Implement structured innovation methods that lead to better decisions and more effective solutions to business problems.
  • Learn and apply patient design thinking processes for creative problem solving.
  • Use proven Six Sigma tools to rapidly identify problem root cause, then implement and confirm effective solutions.
  • Foster creative thinking and overcome cultural barriers that stifle innovation.

Faculty: 

Dr. Chet Barney is an associate professor, of management in the Beacom School of Business.  Chet is a first generation college graduate and received his doctorate in management from New Mexico State University in the spring of 2013 and then started at USD that fall.  Chet teaches leadership and  organizational behavior at USD.  He also has published several articles in peer reviewed journals, which have focused on management education and   productivity, consumer behavior, and workplace controversies.

Fees are per connection at a facility and include electronic handout, and one connection line to the live webinar. Connection instructions and handout materials will be emailed to the contact person listed on the registration 1-2 days prior to the program.

Registration deadline is January 14, 2020. No-shows will be billed. Substitutions welcome anytime via email. A full refund will be given to all cancellations received 10 or more business days prior to the program. No refunds will be given to cancellations received five or fewer business days prior to the program. All cancellation and substitution requests must be emailed to sheena.thomas@sdaho.org.
