Measure Applications Partnership process kicks off

The annual Measure Applications Partnership (MAP) process has kicked off with the publication of the Measures Under Consideration (MUC) list.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is required to send the MAP any measure it is considering for future quality/pay-for-performance programs before they actually propose it in rulemaking. This year’s list is almost 100 measures long, according to the American Hospital Association (AHA), and includes about 20 measures being considered for future hospital inpatient and outpatient quality reporting programs.

The National Quality Forum (NQF) is offering an opportunity to submit comments before the MAP work group discussions begin. The deadline is Dec. 2, but there will also be another 2-3 week comment period after the workgroup meetings starting in mid-to-late December.

The AHA is a member of both the hospital workgroup and the coordinating committee.
