Regulatory update: Medicare claims hold FY 2019 IPPS and LTCH

The Oct. 2 Federal Register contained a correction to the final inpatient and long term acute prospective payment rules for fiscal year 2019. The correction revised base payment amounts, outlier thresholds and various other components of the previously issued final rule. Due to these revised rates and factors, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced that Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) will hold claims with discharge dates on, or after, Oct. 1 through Oct. 22. No provider action is required regarding claims resubmission.
