Overview:

We will review how to be a meaningful source of support to parents who are experiencing the death of a child and how those involved in the early phases of the loss can avoid adding trauma to an already traumatic event. We will review some commonalities in parental grief to help listeners better understand the depth and spectrum of a bereaved parent’s experience of grief. We will review bereavement resources that are available across South Dakota.

  3. Awareness of Lach’s Legacy and Bereavement Resources
Presenter:

Brianne Edwards, founder of Lach’s Legacy

Brianne Edwards is the founder of Lach’s Legacy, a South Dakota-based nonprofit organization working to provide bereavement support to families after the unexpected loss of an infant, to promote SIDS and safe-sleep awareness, and to help fund SIDS-related research. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2004 and a Master’s in physician assistant studies in 2006, both from the University of South Dakota. Her passion for supporting bereaved parents was spurred by the unexpected death of her son in 2008.

Registration for this webinar is per connection needed at a facility. This allows multiple staff members to participate in the education using one connection. Prior registration is required to ensure connection information and applicable materials are distributed prior to the webinar.
