The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a toolkit to help long-term care employers prepare for the 2016-2017 influenza season.
The CDC notes that influenza is a serious health threat, especially for vulnerable populations such as older adults and people living with chronic medical conditions. The federal agency is encouraging people living with and caring for frail, disabled and/or aging persons — including those who work in long-term care — to get vaccinated for influenza.
The comprehensive toolkit, available through the LeadingAge website, includes resources intended to help owners and administrators of long-term care facilities, agencies and corporations provide access to employee flu vaccinations.
The CDC website has additional flu materials with messaging to address current recommendations and free resources for download.
