April 16 is National Healthcare Decisions Day.
On Wednesday, April 19th, The Good Samaritan Society and Avera eCare Senior Care are providing a free educational event with information and tools for you to discuss end-of-life care wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers, including documents for completing written advance directives.
This educational event will include PBS’s FRONTLINE film “Being Mortal,” which follows physician Atul Gawande as he thinks about death and dying in the context of being a healer. Dr. Gawande published a national bestselling book by the same name.
Time will allow for discussion with Dr. Francine Arneson, palliative care physician at Avera McKennan Hospital.
