The Oglala Lakota Nation is hosting a workshop on Tuesday, May 16 on developing strategies to strengthen health career opportunity programs on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Attendees are invited to hear the experiences of current Native American health professionals and learn about the challenges they encounter and lessons they learned to develop new health careers pathways for Oglala Lakota youth. The intended audience is parents, students, educators and school board members on the Pine Ridge reservation.
The curriculum aims to ensure Oglala Lakota middle and high school students are prepared for health professions training.
The workshop runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. MDT at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology Surbeck Center.
