Association members should have received a legislative “action alert” yesterday with a request to contact Rep. Kristi Noem and ask her to become a co-sponsor of H.R. 4392.
The bipartisan bill was introduced by Rep. David McKinley (R-WV) and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) last week in an effort to stop $1.6 billion in reductions to Medicare Part B payments to hospitals participating in the 340B Drug Pricing Program. The reimbursement changes are scheduled to become effective Jan. 1, 2018. Please contact Rep. Noem and send her a message as outlined in the alert on SDAHO’s Legislative Action Center.
In addition, as we reported last week, the Association has joined with 30 state health care associations to file an amicus brief in support of the lawsuit filed by the American Hospital Association and others. The lawsuit seeks to prevent the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services from implementing the rule reducing Medicare payments to hospitals participating in the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
The lawsuit is scheduled to be heard on Dec. 21 in U.S. District Court in front of Judge Rudolph Contreras. To read a brief overview of our concerns and objections to 340B program cuts, click here.
