The Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) has announced that the deadline to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the Low Volume Appeals (LVA) Initiative has been extended to June 8, 2018. Appellants with either an odd or an even National Provider Identification number (NPI) that meet the eligibility criteria, should submit an EOI between April 12, 2018 and June 8, 2018.
To be eligible, appellants must have fewer than 500 appeals, with a total billed amount of $9,000 or less per appeal, at the third and fourth appeal levels combined. Those that meet the eligibility requirements should submit an expression of interest between April 12 and June 8. CMS is offering to settle these claims quickly at 62 percent of the net Medicare approved amount.
