The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released late last week $485 million in grant money to continue the fight against opioids. The money, which is the second year of funding, was given to 50 states, four U.S. territories and the free associated states of Palau and Micronesia.
The Opioid State Targeted Response (STR) grants were created by the 21st Century Cures Act and are administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) within HHS. South Dakota was authorized to receive just under $2 million in this latest installment. Click here to read more and to view how much each state and territory received.
