The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will provide confidential, hospital-specific reports on two disparity methods that assess hospital performance for patients with social risk factors in the Hospital 30-day, All-Cause, Risk-Standardized Readmission Rate Following Pneumonia Hospitalization (NQF #0506) measure.
The reports will be available by Aug. 24 and available for preview through Sept. 24.
CMS will host a national provider call on Sept. 12 from 11-12 p.m. (CST) to review the disparity methods and answer questions. More information on registration will be provided later.
The measure highlighted in the reports will use rates of dual eligible patients as a proxy for social risk factors and compare readmission rates of patient groups both within and across hospitals.
The results from this confidential reporting will not impact hospital reimbursement and the data captured in the reports will not be publicly reported. Eligible hospitals will have a report available for download through the QualityNet Secure Portal through the duration of the confidential reporting period.
