Governor to address funding crisis for South Dakota nursing homes

South Dakota has the lowest reimbursement rate in the country, causing a $42 million annual funding shortfall for long-term care facilities each year.

In her first budget address Wednesday, Gov. Kristi Noem will discuss increasing funding for the state’s nursing homes.

Momentum already is building this legislative session for proposals to help nursing homes in order to end a recent wave of closures across the state.
