SB 118, the Medical Order for Scope of Treatment (MOST) is a patient-centered, advance care planning tool and actionable medical order between a patient and his/her physician, which ensures a patient’s treatment wishes are known and honored when they are nearing end of life. It is a voluntary form a patient and care provider will fill out together based on the patient’s values, beliefs and goals for care.
This form is consistent with the Catholic Bishops Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Services and is a transportable medical order which can be honored by other states. This bill has passed the Senate and has been scheduled in the House Judiciary Committee on March 6, 2019.
