KEPRO has been the Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization (BFCC-QIO) in South Dakota for the past five years and was recently awarded a new five-year contract by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) effective June 8, 2019. As the BFCC-QIO, KEPRO will assist Medicare beneficiaries with quality of care complaints, discharge and service termination appeals and Immediate Advocacy. For South Dakota, KEPRO’s toll free helpline number will be changing to 888-317-0891.
To ensure your Medicare beneficiaries are able to contact KEPRO to make timely appeals, please update the notices you provide them with the correct phone number in your region and start providing this number to beneficiaries beginning June 8, 2019.
- You will need to update your Appeals Notices
- South Dakota Post Acute Providers: Update your Notice of Medicare Non-coverage (NONMC) documents with KEPRO’s toll free phone number 888-317-0891 and contact information.
- South Dakota Acute Care Providers: Update your Important Message from Medicare with KEPRO’s toll free phone number 888-317-0891 and contact information.
- Complete a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Provider Update Form: Visit https://www.keproqio.com/providers/agreement.aspx after June 7, 2019, to complete the MOA and Provider Update Form and submit it to KEPRO.
The Social Security Act requires hospitals, critical access hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, hospices, long term care acute care facilities, comprehensive outpatient rehabillitation facilities (CORF), and home health agencies to maintain an MOA with the BFCC-QIO to perform certain functions.
For details on these changes see this flyer and newsletter insert from KEPRO. You may also visit www.keproqio.com/transition for more information or subscribe to KEPRO’s e-mail distribution list for important BFCC-QIO updates.
