South Dakota’s tax receipts $5.7M less than expected

The State of South Dakota general fund receipt report through 1 month, total actual ongoing receipts were $5.7M less than the original adopted FY2020 estimate, but much of the decrease is due to timing of receipts through the Insurance Company tax collections.

The report includes the most recent month-end and year-to-date receipts in all major categories for the state general fund. The reports compare actual receipts to the prior year for the most recently completed month and on a year-to-date basis.

Actual receipts are also compared to the most recent legislative adopted forecast, as well as the original adopted forecast to gauge how well actual collections are performing compared to budgeted levels.

The complete financial metrics dashboard is available on the South Dakota Bureau of Finance and Management’s website.
