CMS Enhancement of Hospital Star Ratings

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) ​this week their intentions to release hospital star ratings located on the Hospital Compare website in early 2020 based on the agency’s current methodology. 

CMS last updated the Star Ratings in February 2019.​ The agency said it will release a proposed rule in 2020 to enhance the methodology with the aim to finalize the new rules prior to the release of the Star Ratings in calendar y​ear 2021.
