Issues with Counterfeit PPE Gear

With shortages of supplies and protective gear, facilities are buying these much needed items wherever they can find them. However this can sometimes cause a new issue if the supplies are counterfeit.

Recently the US Customs and Boarder Protection (CBP) office has recognized an issue related to counterfeit personal protective equipment being sold to health care facilities. Specifically, N95s have been reported counterfeit in high enough amounts that 3M has set up a website to validate the N-95 authenticity.

If your organization or members have encountered what appears to be a counterfeit product that you would like to bring to CBP’s attention, here is a link to report counterfeiting using the CBP’s E-Allegations link.
