Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities and Long-term Care Hospitals Provider Preview Reports

Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRF) and Long-term Care Hospitals (LTCH) provider preview reports are based on quality data submitted between Q1 2019 and Q4 2019. An issue was identified with the data display of the Discharge to Community (DTC) Medicare claims-based measure on the IRF Provider Preview Reports that were added to each Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility’s IRF Provider Preview Reports folder in the Internet Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (iQIES) on 06/16/2020.

Specifically, the data for the Lower and Upper Limit Confidence Interval Risk-Standardized Discharge to Community Rate were erroneous. New IRF Provider Preview Reports that correctly display the Lower Limit Confidence Interval Risk-Standardized value, followed by the Upper Limit Confidence Interval Risk-Standardized values were made available in the IRF Provider Preview Reports folder in iQIES on Friday, June 19, 2020. Due to the issue with the IRF report, IRF providers have until July 21, 2020 to review their performance data. Corrections to the underlying data will not be permitted during this time; however, providers can request CMS review of their data during the preview period if they believe the quality measure scores that are displayed within their Preview Reports are inaccurate.

LTCH providers have until July 18th to review their performance. In September 2020, both the IRF, which will include six new measures, and the LTCH Compare Websites will be refreshed will the new performance data.

For further IRF and LTCH provider information, see the IRF Quality Public Reporting and LTCH Quality Public Reporting webpages, IRF Compare and the LTCH Compare, and the IRF Preview Report Access Instructions and LTCH Preview Report Access Instructions websites.
