HEALS Act Introduced by the Senate

On July 27, 2020, the Senate introduced the HEALS Act – the Health, Economic Assistance, Liability Protection and Schools Act. TThe package was introduced as a series of eight individual bills originating in the Appropriations, HELP, Finance, Small Business and Judiciary Committees. This $1 trillion proposal, which is the counter bill to the $3 trillion HEROES Act, is the next round (Phase 4) of federal legislation to provide relief during the coronavirus pandemic. The goal is to have bipartisan approval by the end of next week, prior to the August recess. Phase 4 relief is the anticipated follow-up legislation to the $2 trillion CARES Act that was enacted on March 27, 2020.
