National Prescription Drug Take Back Day October 24th

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is on Saturday, October 24th. The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Last year which was the 18th National Take Back Day, South Dakota collected 1,152lbs. Since the start of this initiative in 2010, South Dakota has collected over 25,000lbs. Take this day to prevent medication misuse and theft by removing these potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs from our homes and communities. For more information, visit Avoid Opioid SD.

Also, there are many other ways to dispose of unwanted and to secure prescription drugs every day. To learn more visit Avoid Opioid SD, the FDA website on how to properly dispose of prescription drugs and the secure your meds section of the Take Back Day website.
