CMS Retires Original Compare Tools

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) are replacing the eight original care compare tools including the Nursing Home Compare, Hospital Compare, and Physician Compare on December 1, 2020 with CMS’s new Care Compare tool. After December 1, the previous tools will no longer be available. CMS encourages providers and stakeholders that linked to the old compare tools to replace links with the new tool.

CMS’s new Care Compare offers a new design that makes it easier to find the same information listed on the original compare tools. The tool is designed to be more user-friendly and allows patients and caregivers to more easily compare cost, quality of care, service volume, and other data to make informed healthcare decisions.

The new Care Compare tool is available at https://www.medicare.gov/care-compare/
