South Dakota Medicaid Submits State Plan Amendment to Cover COVID-19 Vaccinations

​South Dakota Medicaid has submitted a disaster relief Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regarding coverage of the COVID-19 vaccination administration. Coverage of the vaccine and the associated reimbursement rate will be effective March 1, 2020.

 

COVID-19 vaccine administration will be reimbursed at the established Medicare rate. Indian Health Service (IHS) and Tribal 638 providers will be reimbursed at the all-inclusive encounter rate for COVID-19 vaccine administration.

A copy of the disaster SPA may be viewed on the Department of Social Services website.
