HHS Publishes COVID-19 Hospital Facility Level Data

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) began publishing COVID-19 hospital facility level data on December 7, 2020. Hospitals are currently required to report multiple data points to HHS regarding the impact of COVID-19 on their facility, including current COVID-19 admissions, bed availability (many unit types), impact on Emergency Department patient load, and the use of ventilators. This information will update weekly and is retrospective to August 1, 2020.

It is the hope of HHS that publishing this information will create transparency with the public, while allowing hospitals and other agencies to utilize the data for preparedness planning and potentially collaboration efforts.
