FEMA Warns of Funeral Assistance Scams

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has received reports of scammers reaching out to people offering to register them for funeral assistance. While FEMA has begun offering COVID-19 funeral assistance, they do not contact people prior to them registering for assistance. They are working to set up a dedicated toll-free number that can be used to apply for funeral assistance. FEMA has a notice on their funeral assistance webpage about being aware of scams and what to do if you suspect one.
