South Dakota Medicaid Updates COVID 19 FAQ with Billing Guidance

​South Dakota Medicaid has published an updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for providers on COVID-19. The updated FAQ contains additional information and billing guidance for for testing and treatment of COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccine administration. The update includes billing guidance related to Medicaid Coverage of Monoclonal Antibody Therapy in hospital and rural health clinic and federally qualified health center settings.

The update also includes billing information related to Medicaid’s coverage for the COVID-19 vaccine. South Dakota Medicaid covers the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine(s) that have received Emergency Use Authorization from the Food and Drug Administration. South Dakota Medicaid’s maximum allowable reimbursement rate for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine is based on the Medicare rate. Providers that have an agreement with the Department of Health for reimbursement of COVID-19 vaccine administration should not bill Medicaid.
