HHS Awards Workforce Grants for Vaccinations in Underserved Communities

On June 14, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $125 million to 14 organizations supporting underserved areas. The grants will work to develop a community-based workforce to increase vaccine confidence and vaccination rates. The awards, available through the American Rescue Plan, are the first of two funding opportunities intended to expand vaccine access and address vaccine hesitancy within underserved communities.

Two of the recipient organizations, Alianza Nacional de Campesinas, Inc. and the Public Health Institute, serve populations in South Dakota. Collaboration with local partners will work to vaccinate as many people as possible.
