August 25 | 11am CT, Supporting Parents After the Death of a Child

We will review how to be a meaningful source of support to parents who are experiencing the death of a child and how those involved in the early phases of the loss can avoid adding trauma to an already traumatic event. We will review some commonalities in parental grief to help listeners better understand the depth and spectrum of a bereaved parent’s experience of grief. We will review bereavement resources that are available across South Dakota.

September 7 | 1pm CT, Documentation Essentials

Today more than ever, complete and objective documentation is essential! Join us for this information packed session that will describe the importance, the details, and operational strategies for accurate and adequate documentation for success, quality and compliance.

September 9 | 1pm, CT, Falls Prevention

In 2017 and 2018, falls were the leading cause of injury and death, with half of the fall-related deaths happening among adults age 85 or older. Research indicates that falls among older adults is a multi-faceted problem requiring a multidisciplinary approach to prevent falls. This presentation will introduce you to the South Dakota Fall Prevention Coalition. The mission and vision of the organization will be provided, along with the strategies the coalition is using to accomplish its goals of reducing the number of fall-related deaths by 5% and reducing the number of fall-related hospitalization by 10% by 2026. By the end of this presentation, attendees will have enhanced knowledge about how they can join the fall prevention efforts in South Dakota.
