Leadership Lessons with Becky Nelson: A Lasting Legacy

Becky Nelson, RN and retired Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sanford Health has often shared career advice and guidance to those working in the healthcare industry. For 38 years Becky was part of the Sioux Valley Hospital and Sanford Health family.  Becky started off as a young nurse in Aberdeen and moved to Sioux Falls in 1975 as a staff nurse. Throughout her career she would move from a Staff Nurse to a Nurse Supervisor, Nursing Administrator, Vice President of Patient Services, President of Sanford USD Medical Center and her final role in the Sanford Health System’s Corporate Office as Senior VP and COO. Becky sat down with SDAHO to talk about her career, lessons learned and what she hopes current and future healthcare professionals can learn from her experiences.

Here is a clip from Becky as she visits about the development of the Sanford Children’s Hospital and how it came to be a castle.  Enjoy this edition of Lessons Learned with Becky Nelson.
