SDAHO’s 96th Annual Convention Highlights

​On September 21-23, South Dakota’s healthcare leaders came together to learn, network and celebrate healthcare workers at SDAHO’s 96th Annual Convention. The event kicked off on Wednesday, Sept. 21, with a golf event at Willow Run golf course, sponsored by Eide Bailly. In addition, SDAHO’s Nurse Leadership program hosted Donna Wright, where participants enjoyed her presentation on Leadership for a New World of Healthcare and discovered ways to celebrate moments of excellence. SDAHO thanks the South Dakota Department of Health Office of Rural Health Flex program for sponsoring Donna Wright’s presentation.
Keynote speaker – Chris McChesney

A full day of festivities began on Thursday, Sept. 22, with Chris McChesney, author and global practice leader of execution for FranklinCovey, providing a message on The 4 Disciplines of Execution and how to create lasting organizational change within your business. Fueled with energy and passion, Chris challenged attendees to think and work in a new way by sharing proven practices to achieve wildly important goals.

Following the keynote, several breakout sessions were offered to attendees within the areas of human resources, health information management, leadership, post-acute care, nursing and environmental services.

During lunch, SDAHO welcomed Hannah Ledford from the Fairness Project and Zach Marcus from South Dakota Decides Healthcare to share on Medicaid Expansion.

To end the evening, SDAHO hosted a Healthcare Appreciation Concert with musical guest, The Hegg Brothers.

Friday was the final day of breakout sessions and the event concluded with SDAHO’s Award Luncheon and closing keynote, Jonah Goldberg. Mr. Goldberg provided audience a lively but balanced view of the current national political landscape. He highlighted the biggest political and policy trends, personalities and principles at the heart of American culture.
