CMS Updates the Public Health Emergency Fact Sheet

On February 27, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released an updated fact sheet to help healthcare entities prepare for the end of the public health emergency (PHE) on May 11, 2023. Most waivers and flexibilities issued during the pandemic will expire so it is important to plan ahead for this transition. Please note, the Medicaid Continuous Enrollment Condition (as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2023) will end on March 31, 2023.

The American Hospital Association (AHA) issued a special bulletin at the beginning of February highlighting key changes for hospital operations at the end of the COVID-19 PHE. You can read the special bulletin here.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) also released a fact sheet with a transition road map to help providers understand what the PHE ending will affect and not affect. You can read the fact sheet here.
