Time is running out to register for the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) Rural Health Leaders Conference. Register today for the SDAHO’s Rural Health Leaders Conference, June 27-28 in Fort Pierre, where discussions surrounding rural healthcare sustainability and strategy will be headlining this year’s event. Other hot top health care issues will be examined by leading experts:
- Current and future workforce Initiatives in South Dakota will be shared by SDAHO staff.
- Leading rural healthcare consultant, Eric Shell will take an in-depth look at the rural healthcare industry and will outline strategies to thrive in the era of population health.
- A panel of South Dakota healthcare executives will take the stage to discuss future healthcare challenges and provide an overview of the model of current successes and solutions with a focus on a realistic plan of action.
- Medicaid Expansion is effective July 1 in South Dakota and Sarah Aker, SDDSS Director of Medicaid, will provide updates on Medicaid expansion, eligibility, and other upcoming changes.
- Anita Dunham from Monument Health will share how they reduced hospital readmissions and excess hospital days through a program focused on improving efficiency and eliminating barriers with care transitions.
- Senator John Thune’s Health Advisor, Sarah Schmidt will provide a federal legislative update on the number of legislative issues impacting healthcare.
JUST ANNOUNCED: An invitation has been extended to Senator Mike Rounds and he is tentatively planning to join us on June 28 to provide a brief DC update and open the floor for questions.

- NHA: SDAHO is the South Dakota affiliate of LeadingAge, an approved provider of continuing education in nursing home administration by the South Dakota Board of Nursing Facility Administrators. There are up to 8.8 contact hours available to nursing home administrators at this conference.
- ACHE: Session: Sustainability of Healthcare Organizations: A Plan of Action Panel Discussion: This program has been developed and is presented locally by South Dakota Healthcare Executive Group. The American College of Healthcare Executives has awarded 1 ACHE Face-to-Face Education Credit to this program.
