Medicaid Expansion Claims

This week the South Dakota Department of Social Services informed providers that effective immediately, South Dakota Medicaid is ready to accept professional claims (billed on a CMS 1500 form) and institutional claims (billed on a UB04 form) for Medicaid expansion recipients.

Starting July 1, 2023, South Dakota’s Medicaid expansion allows individuals to qualify for Medicaid by raising the income requirement to 138% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), up to $41,400 for a family of 4, and adding childless adults.
