Licensed practical nurses (LPN) are valuable team members in all healthcare settings. The South Dakota Board of Nursing recognized “significant updates to the LPN nursing practice rules have not been made in over twenty years…one major reason for changing the rules was to modernize them to be more consistent with South Dakota’s practice laws in SDCL36-9 and to update them with current practice and national standards of practice.” On December 10, 2023, the South Dakota Board of Nursing adopted new and revised rules on LPN nursing practice.
Thursday, February 22 at 12pm CST/11am MST, Lindsay Olson, South Dakota Board of Nursing, Center for Nursing Workforce Director will review the updates and highlight key points allowing LPNs to practice at the top of their licensure.
Strong support throughout the organization is needed to ensure all members of the healthcare team embrace the value of LPNs. Dena Hanson, CNO of Mobridge Regional Hospitals & Clinics and Kayla Wolff, Nurse Manager of Mobridge Regional Hospitals & Clinics will provide real world experience of having LPNs in the acute care setting, as well as other healthcare settings.
Throughout this webinar participants will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the new rules and delve deeper into innovative ways to embrace LPNs in your healthcare setting.
