SDAHO Takes Part in Cardiovascular Collaborative Annual Meeting

The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO) is proud to have been part of the Cardiovascular Collaborative Annual Meeting, which took place Wednesday May 8, 2024, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Since 2017, the South Dakota Cardiovascular Collaborative has been working to improve the quality of life for all through the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease and its associated risk factors. Medical and public health representatives from across the state came together to combine resources, tools, and expertise to implement the 2022-2026 Cardiovascular Collaborative Strategic Plan.

The annual meeting pulled together stakeholders from across the state to take part in a day of listening and learning about the Cardiovascular Strategic Plan.  SDAHO’s Director of Quality Integration, Becky Heisinger, co-facilitated in the sessions titled: Team Play: Priorities & Progress, Action Planning and Partnerships & Recruitment. The sessions looked at each goal group to reflect on what has been accomplished, set action steps for the next year, and identify other state organizations that need to be at the table, in addition to discussing ways to recruit them to participate. “Being able to have a seat at the table for important conversation that focus on the future of healthcare, specific to the Cardiovascular Collaborative Strategic Plan is important. I am grateful that SDAHO is part of this project and conversation.

Additional sessions included:

  • The Future of Cardiovascular Health – SD DOH Sec. Melissa Magstadt
  • Torch Talks: Community Health Resources – panel conversation
  • Records & Results: A Look at the Stats – Laura Gudgeon, Epidemiologist
  • Collaborating Across Goal Groups – Goal Area Feedback
SDAHO’s Heisinger also participated in the group conversation: Team Play – Finalizing Plans and Next Steps. “This session focused on Goal #1 of the Cardiovascular Collaborative Strategic Plan, which looks at advancing health equity in prevention, treatment, and management of cardiovascular disease. Whenever SDAHO can partner with stakeholder groups to assist in the efforts of a healthier South Dakota, we are honored. It was a productive annual meeting.”

Strategic Plan

The 2022-2026 Cardiovascular Collaborative Strategic Plan focuses on advancing health equity, optimizing health through chronic disease prevention, improving response to acute cardiovascular incidents, and supporting disease management.

SDAHO Enterprises, a SDAHO Subsidiary also participated in the annual meeting by sponsoring this year’s social. Kelsey Grady is SDAHO’s Enterprises Development Manager. “SDAHO Enterprises is very thankful to be granted the opportunity to sponsor a portion of the SD Cardiovascular Collaborative Annual Meeting. Our mission is to support activities relating to SDAHO’s membership initiatives and interests – sponsoring this event is one of the many examples of how SDAHO Enterprises’ Business Partnerships can aid the outreach and impact SDAHO has on South Dakota Healthcare.”
