(Madison, S.D.) October 11, 2024 – Madison Regional Health System (MRHS) has named Teresa Mallett, MHA, as its next Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Tammy Miller, who will be retiring at the end of this year. Upon graduating from high school, she attended Dakota State University in Madison, SD, where she received a bachelor’s degree in professional accountancy in 2001. At that same time, she became employed at MRHS. Teresa earned her master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health in 2012. Also in 2012, she was promoted to her most recent role as the Chief Financial Officer at MRHS. Her work at MRHS includes involvement in hospital-wide software implementation, acting as the financial project manager for the hospital replacement project, assisting in the recruitment of new medical providers and acquiring several physician practices.
Teresa and her husband, Jay Hively, live in Madison and have four children: Thomas, Brookelynn, Connor and Wiatt. She states, “I am honored to be selected as the next CEO of Madison Regional Health System. I am excited and energized by what the future holds for MRHS. Madison Regional Health System has been a long-standing pillar in the community, providing quality healthcare close to home. I could not be more proud. We have a team of excellent physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff. I am truly humbled by this opportunity to lead Madison Regional Health System into the future in this ever-changing healthcare landscape.”
Bob VanLiere, Madison Regional Health System’s Board President, stated, “Mallet’s experience and personality make her well-suited for the top administrative position in the hospital.”
Tammy Miller, retiring MRHS CEO, said, “I am very excited for Teresa, MRHS and the Madison community. The choice of Teresa among many other highly qualified candidates speaks to her qualifications, experience, education and passion for the health and welfare of the organization and community. The continuity in leadership for the organization will preserve its success and assure continuing growth. I wish her tremendous success and happiness as she enters this new phase of her professional life. It makes it easier to leave the people and organization for which I care deeply.”
Eide Bailly’s Project Director of MRHS’s candidate search stated the following short summary of Teresa for the final round of interviews: Teresa has been passionate about MRHS since the day she started, she feels it is her home and once she decided she wanted to someday be the CEO, she has taken numerous steps both academically and professionally to achieve her goal. Teresa is a rare CFO; she has a strong business background but ultimately is motivated by taking best care of patients & staff and doing what’s best for the community. Teresa can accurately assess a large data set, but also can understand a clinician’s perspective and what they need to be successful. Teresa is passionately invested in MRHS and Madison, SD.
Ms. Mallett will officially begin her duties on January 1, 2025.
