From October 20th through October 26, SDAHO proudly joined healthcare organizations nationwide in celebrating the 2024 National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) Healthcare Quality Week. This year’s theme, “Power of Q, Power of You,” highlighted the profound impact that healthcare quality professionals have on patients and emphasized the critical role of quality improvement in healthcare.
In alignment with the theme, SDAHO celebrated our quality professionals by updating our homepage with the NAHQ Quality Week banner, reinforcing the spirit of appreciation and recognition. Social media posts and a special appreciation video from our quality staff echoed this message of gratitude, inviting everyone to recognize the achievements of quality professionals across South Dakota.
To bring the theme into everyday operations, SDAHO’s quality team used NAHQ Quality Week-themed Zoom backgrounds and email signatures, sparking discussions and encouraging broader participation. Throughout the week, SDAHO encouraged members to take advantage of NAHQ’s free webinars, gaining insights and resources that will continue to inform their quality improvement work.
NAHQ’s Healthcare Quality Week Planning Guide provided resources and ideas, inspiring SDAHO and other organizations to celebrate Quality Week by:
- Sharing achievements with staff, patients, and families
- Publishing articles showcasing quality improvement projects
- Engaging staff in quality improvement activities
- Recognizing employees who have made strides in quality improvement
As part of our celebration, we were thrilled to give away prizes to two outstanding quality professionals who are SDAHO members. Congratulations to Katie Biggins from Avera Gregory Hospital, who won an Apple Home Pod Mini, and Courtney Lau from Wagner Community Memorial Hospital Avera, who received a North Face SDAHO Enterprise Backpack. Your exceptional contributions to quality improvement in healthcare truly embody the spirit of Quality Week!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who participated in Quality Week 2024, from engaging in webinars to amplifying the theme of quality improvement. Your work drives meaningful change in healthcare every day. Let’s continue to support and celebrate the quality professionals who contribute to safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
