Celebrate Donate Life Month: Equipping professionals to dupport the gift of life

April is a meaningful time to recognize the life-changing impact of organ, tissue, and eye donation—and the critical role health care professionals play in that journey. In honor of National Donate Life Month, SDAHO is offering a special educational opportunity to help strengthen awareness, confidence, and compassion around the donation process.

On April 9 at 12:00 PM CST, SDAHO will host a webinar, presented by LifeSource. This session is designed to equip health care professionals with a deeper understanding of the donation process and their role in supporting patients and families during end-of-life care. This program provides a thoughtful framework to help attendees feel more comfortable initiating and navigating conversations about donation, ensuring families are supported with clarity, empathy, and respect.

Participants will explore the many purposes and benefits of offering the option of donation—from honoring a patient’s wishes to providing hope and healing for recipients. The session will also highlight the broader impact donation has on families, health care teams, and communities.

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the health care professional’s role in the donation process
  • Identify which organs and tissues can be donated and how they are used in transplantation
  • Summarize the referral process for potential organ, tissue, and eye donors
  • Explain required documentation and how to accurately complete it

This session is an excellent opportunity for health care professionals across the continuum to build knowledge, enhance communication skills, and support meaningful end-of-life care.
