Turning Feedback into a Leadership Strength

Giving feedback is one of the most important responsibilities of a leader—but it is also one of the most uncomfortable. Many leaders tend to avoid it, delay it, or only use it when something goes wrong. Over time, this approach can lead to confusion, missed expectations, and decreased engagement among team members.

On Tuesday, May 5, SDAHO will host a virtual session featuring Melissa Flynn-Dooyema, EAP Trainer & Consultant. In Feedback, Coaching & Accountability, leaders will be encouraged to reframe feedback as a powerful tool for clarity, growth, and connection—not just correction. The session also explores how feedback, coaching, and accountability work together to strengthen performance and support employee development.

Participants will gain a clearer understanding of the differences between feedback, coaching, and accountability, and how each plays a critical role in building a high-performing team. The session will also address common barriers that prevent leaders from giving timely and effective feedback, along with practical strategies to overcome hesitation and build confidence in difficult conversations.

Most importantly, attendees will leave with a simple, structured feedback model they can immediately apply in real-world situations. This practical approach is designed to help leaders deliver clear, respectful, and outcome-focused feedback—even in challenging circumstances.
