Healthcare professionals interested in strengthening their skills in caring for patients following sexual assault have an upcoming training opportunity in Pierre.
The South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault, in partnership with Hennepin Healthcare and with contributions from the Avera SANE team, is offering a two-day Adolescent-Adult Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Clinical Skills Lab. The hands-on training is designed to give participants an opportunity to practice completing the medical-forensic exam and build clinical skills used in providing care to sexual assault patients.
The lab is open to nurses who have completed the 40-hour didactic course, as well as advanced practice providers and physicians interested in practicing the medical-forensic exam. The training meets the clinical skills training requirement to be SANE-trained, and CEUs are available.
