FEMA Health Sector Emergency Preparedness course offered – POSTPONED

**UPDATE: This training course has been postponed. See news article posted Aug. 20.** The South Dakota Health Care Coalition is sponsoring free training provided by the FEMA Center for Domestic Preparedness. The course will provide training in the achievement of the four core elements outlined in the 2016 Emergency Preparedness Requirements for Medicare and Medicaid Participating Providers and Suppliers Final Rule.

The course provides instruction, guided discussion, best practice tools, and resources for the conduct of a risk assessment; the development of an emergency plan; the development of associated policies and procedures; the creation of a communications plan; and the training and testing of the plans, policies, and procedures.

The training course will be held on Tuesday, August 14, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ramkota Hotel and Convention Center in Pierre. There is no cost to attend and lunch will be provided. A block of sleeping rooms has been set aside at the Ramkota Hotel (605-224-6877) and The Clubhouse (605-494-2582). Hotel reservations must be made by July 14 to receive a reduced rate.
