Thune elected Senate Majority Whip

Sen. John Thune was unanimously elected Senate Majority Whip making him second in command in the Senate and the all-time highest ranking Republican senator from South Dakota. Thune currently chairs the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation committee and sits on the committees of Finance and Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. Thune replaces Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) as Majority Whip, who is term-limited.

Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was re-elected as Senate Majority Leader and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was re-elected Senate Minority Leader.
