Mobile Mammography’s Efforts in Rural Communities

An assessment of mobile mammography availability in SD was completed in 2018. A report gives a summary of the findings from that assessment. In addition, a map was created to give a visual of the availability of mammography services, both mobile units and stationary units, throughout the state. The map has layers that allows individuals to see county-level breast cancer data overlapping mammography locations. The layers include: 1) had a mammogram in the past two years, 2) age-adjusted breast cancer incidence rates, and 3) age-adjusted breast cancer mortality rates.
