Cannabis use is growing in today’s society in fact South Dakota is set on legalizing it in the coming year. The CBD market place is expected to grow to 22 billion by 2022 according to the Brightfield Group. With the variety of guidance and opinions on CBD and marijuana, what are healthcare providers to do when their customers, family members, and employees are coming in and inquiring about their use? This session will focus on the use of cannabis from a pharmaceutical perspective and it’s use in healthcare. In addition to the products that are available as supplements there are also a number of FDA approved products that attendees will be educated on by the end of the session. We’ll also discuss some things to think about as employers and health care workers when employees and patients want to use these products.

Presenter

Rob Leffler is the Vice President of Clinical Services for PCA Pharmacy, a long-term care pharmacy that serves over 30,000 residents in 13 states. Rob graduated with a BS in Pharmacy from Butler University and has spent the majority of his career in long-term care as a consultant pharmacist, running long-term care pharmacies and leading clinical teams in the care of residents. As a pharmacist, he has spoken for several state Leading Age organizations (Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee and Kentucky) as well as for several other state health organizations at their live meetings and webinars.

Registration for this webinar is per connection needed at a facility. This allows multiple staff members to participate in the education using one connection. Prior registration is required to ensure connection information and applicable materials are distributed prior to the webinar. Registration is free for SDAHO Member facilities /$49 for non-member facilities. Continuing education for LNHA and SW.
