Overview:
Cannabis has been the focus of considerable debate, advocacy, and policy, generating both interest and misinformation.
This presentation will provide an overview of cannabis and cannabinoid terminology, current regulations, and web-based resources available for continued learning.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Describe the cannabis & cannabinoid terminology.
- Explain FDA-approved and non-FDA-approved cannabis-based products.
- Overview of current regulation of cannabis-based products in the US.
- Share web-based resources for continued learning.
- Provide an up-to-date view into the ever changing state and federal legal status of cannabis broadly, and CBD more specifically, so that healthcare professionals are equipped to support patients and their families navigating both FDA-approved prescription medicines and unapproved products derived from cannabis.

Dr. Jennifer L. Marlo-Triemstra, MS, PhD
Jennifer, also known as, “Trie”, is the Senior Manager of Cannabinoid Education for Greenwich Biosciences. Prior to her current role, Trie was a Medical Science Liaison at Greenwich Biosciences providing scientific support to develop an FDA-approved cannabidiol therapy for the treatment of seizures associated with epilepsy. Trie received her Masters of Science from State Cloud State University and her PhD at the University of Minnesota. Before graduate school, she spent several years working in academia performing laboratory research focused on neuroendocrinology. She currently lives in Minneapolis with her spouse, 2 children, and a fish named ‘Pete’.
Jessica Wolfe – Sr. Director, State Government Reimbursement and Policy, Greenwich Biosciences
Jessica Wolfe, of Denver, CO, is a seasoned Government Affairs and Public Policy expert from Denver, Colorado. Jessica is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where she studied Political Science and Communication Studies. She has two decades of healthcare sales, consulting and lobbying experience, having worked for industry leaders like Allergan, Boehringer Ingelheim, Cardinal Health, Boston Scientific, and Greenwich Biosciences. She has created and run State Government Affairs Programs for three different biotech companies, Boston Scientific, Scilex and now Greenwich Biosciences, actively monitoring and lobbying both federal and state-based healthcare legislation, regulations and public policy initiatives across the country.
Jessica’s consulting work has focused on healthcare reform and engagement strategies for new care delivery models under the Affordable Care Act, including Medicaid expansion, accountable care organizations and patient-centered medical homes, for clients including Abbott Labs, Medasys and Coram Specialty Infusion. Currently, Jessica is leading the State Government Reimbursement and Policy Team at Greenwich Biosciences, helping remove barriers to access for the country’s first FDA approved cannabis-based medicine for treatment-resistant forms of epilepsy. She also served on an advisory group for the Colorado health insurance exchange, Connect for Health Colorado.
A native of Albuquerque, NM, Jessica also gained valuable political experience serving in the Administration of New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson as the Special Assistant to Cabinet Affairs, and ran for office herself in 2008, narrowly losing a race for NM State Senate District 21.
