Overview:

This education session is about organ, eye and tissue donation. We will be discussing key elements of the donation process and how the collaboration of our organizations is so important to the patients and the families we mutually serve. Together we can be advocates of hope for potential donors, families, and recipients.

Presenters:

Emily Larimer is a Clinical Hospital Coordinator with LifeSource for Western South Dakota. Emily was introduced to LifeSource through the loss of her 18 y/o son in 2015. Nehemiah, the youngest of three children, had discussed his choice to be an organ donor with his father a few months before a tragic accident and through LifeSource his wishes were honored. She is grateful for LifeSource and the bond she and her family have established with her son’s liver recipient. Emily’s experience includes an enlistment in the U.S. Army Reserve as a systems analyst. Following this service, she became a registered nurse, providing healthcare in medical surgical, progressive care and intensive care settings. She has also worked as a nurse educator to include high fidelity simulation at Black Hills VA Medical Center. She earned her MSN in Administration at University of Mary, ND in 2010. She currently lives in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota with her husband Kayne. She is active in skiing, pottery, rock climbing, and slacklining.

Jennifer Fredrickson is a Hospital Liaison with LifeSource for Eastern South Dakota. Prior to joining LifeSource, Jennifer worked for 20 years in a Medical Device sales capacity. She found great fulfillment in training and supporting physicians and nurses in cutting-edge medical techniques that resulted in better patient outcomes. However, she yearned to help more. That passion for serving others led her to her role at LifeSource. In her fast year at LifeSource, her passion for helping others and serving Hospital teams has only amplified! It is one of her greatest blessings supporting Hospital Partners in offering their heroic donors, and donor families the gift of hope and healing through organ, eye and tissue donation. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of South Dakota. And, when she is not running to one of her 4 children’s activities (her oldest will graduate High School and go off to college this year), she is wife to Lance of 22 years, and she enjoys camping, trail biking, golfing and walking the family’s yellow lab, Ash.
