Suicide Prevention - State Resources and Strategies

Overview:

The presentation will be an overview of suicide prevention programming and resources in South Dakota. It will review of the goals, objectives, and strategies outlined in the Suicide Prevention Strategic plan, statewide suicide data as well as statewide campaigns and resources available. Statewide suicide data will be presented.

Presenter:

Melissa Renes, SD Dept of Social Services – Division of Behavioral Health

Melissa Renes joined the Division of Behavioral Health Office of Prevention Services in January 2021. In her role as Prevention Program Manager, Melissa works directly with the Prevention Resource Centers and Substance Use and Suicide Prevention Coalitions in the communities and state entities to provide project support, technical assistance, and collaborative concepts for growing prevention efforts in our communities. Melissa obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology through Northern State University in 2001 and is currently in her final year of her Master of Social Work program at Capella University.
